Consultis founder, Barbara Dettman Fleming, started the company with the knowledge she acquired through a lifelong apprenticeship with her father, Leroy E. Dettman, founder of a company that is now known as Spherion. In the early 1940s, Leroy started a staffing company in Chicago, IL called City Car Unloaders. He is considered to be a pioneer in the staffing industry just as his daughter was an early pioneer in the IT staffing industry.
